Farm Tour – Namoorook Farm in Leongatha
Please check with the event organiser, as due to social distancing guidelines, event may be cancelled or may happen online instead.Namoorook is a 32-hectare farm on the edge of the Leongatha township.
Namoorook has been used for timber, dairy, potatoes, onions, snow peas, and beef since it was established in 1895. In 2020, Neil Barrett acquired the property and has since been working to integrate it more with nature and farm it more sustainably.
Neil has ceased about 50% of the snow pea lease and returned the paddocks to pasture. He has also put an area under horticulture and is producing vegetables. This “no till” operation has had varying degrees of success but a lot of valuable learning along the way.
Neil is passionate about regenerative agriculture and is committed to leaving the property in a better state than he found it. He welcomes you to visit Namoorook and learn more about his journey.
